As you may have noticed, I haven't been going on many dates. I wanted some me time and I think that's totally fair. Well, I went out with a guy tonight. He's very smart, sorta funny, nice, chivalrous, etc. However, I really don't think I am into him.
I always feel really bad when a guy says he wants to see me again and the feelings are not exactly mutual. Crap, crap, crap. I didn't tell him I didn't want to see him again, but I also didn't answer his question of "Would you like to get together again?" Maybe he gets it because I didn't answer the question?
I know, it feels bad when you were just giving a guy and chance, and then he wants to see you again. And you're pretty sure you don't. My strategy is to just rip the bandaid off as quickly as possible... Sometimes say "Sure" and not commit to anything in person, and then give them the cold truth that you're not interested in a text message the next day. It's hard to turn someone down face to face at the end of the first date with them...
ReplyDeleteGood luck! The quicker you reject him, the less time he has to obsess over you / get excited about dating you. And then maybe he won't turn into Smart Guy and still text you a year later. ;)
Thanks M. It's so easy rejecting jerks and so much more difficult with nice guys.
DeleteSmart Guy is the worst guy I've ever dated...so bad that I don't feel guilty for never officially ending it.
I had the same issue and it made me think..was he just being nice or was he serious? I didn't want to assume he was super into me so I held off on the "I'm not that into you" speech.
ReplyDeleteI think they say such things as a feeler. If you are super enthusiastic, they know they can have a second date
