Don't Really Care Much

The guy I ran into at the airport, I ran into him again, at the airport!  We chatted for a few minutes.  He wanted to do something this weekend, but I already have plans.  He kept telling me to text him, but I have nothing to say.  And, I already have plans.  And, I see him as a work friend.  And, if he really wants to make plans, he can text me.  And, if he doesn't really want to make plans, no need to text me.  I don't really care much.

Back From Vacation

I'm back from my long vacation where I visited four countries in Europe.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to see new places, spend time with friends, and clear my mind.

I told myself I'd be more open to dating and meeting new people after this trip.  Well, as soon as I landed in the US, one guy from the past (we never moved passed talking) sent me a message, and another I've worked with in the past asked for my number (we ran into each other at the airport).  I don't think either of them will go anywhere, but I will say that I will try to enjoy the process of spending time with them (should it get to that point) rather than dreading the whole dating thing.

Weekend In Paris

I was in Paris over the weekend with two girlfriends.  Well, a girlfriend and her friend.  I'm never traveling with her friend again.  Paris was beautiful and cold.  It was my first time there.  Most of my past big trips have been with men I've dated, guy friends, male family members; and, they've taken charge of the planning, transportation, dining, et al.

From this trip, all three of us learned that we don't need a guy to go on a big trip.  We can get around on our own just fine.  I had much more fun traveling with this girlfriend than any guy I've dated.

Asking Myself Some Questions

Instead of thinking about men, dating, and relationships, I've been putting my energy into asking myself some questions.
  1. If I didn't have to work for money and could do anything I want, what would it be and why?
  2. If I could live anywhere in the world, where would I live and why?
  3. If I could visit anywhere in the world, where would I go an why?
I think these are good soul searching questions for anyone who feels a little bored, confused, or just blah.

I'm sprucing up my apartment while I work on these questions.  I also bought new luggage so I have one less excuse as to why I'm not traveling the world.  I've noticed many people make excuses to themselves.  I'm one of them and I'm working to change that.  When I tell myself some kind of excuse, I've been asking myself, what am I avoiding or why is that my current thinking?  For example, I can't travel the world because I don't have an international sized carry on.  Now that I've bought one, I find myself saying, I can't go anywhere because it's hard to line up schedules with friends.  Well, why can't I go alone?  Of course, I can.

We Caught Up

Over the weekend, I ran into a guy I went out with a few times at a party.  I wrote about him ("Felix") in this blog.  He was the guy who really wanted to go out with me and begged my old roommate to set it up.  We went out a handful of times.  He never contacted me again and I never contacted him.  Perhaps it was bad timing or perhaps neither of us were that interested in one another.

It was nice running into him.  Neither of us seem to have any bad feelings toward each other.  We caught up.  He said he'd call me; I don't think he will and that's fine.  He's not someone I'm dying to see again.  He's also not someone I'd avoid.

Summer Traveling

I've been traveling a lot.  Some trips are solo, some trips are with friends, and some trips are with the guy.  They are all fun in different ways.  When I overdo it on solo trips, I want to go places with my friends.  When I overdo it on trips with the guy, I want to go places on my own.  Et al.  I don't think I know the right balance for me yet.

Not To Run

When things are going well, I'm not sure I want to continue.  When things aren't going well, I want them to continue.  Do I scare easily?  Perhaps.  Do I like the challenge?  Perhaps.  Do I like fantasy more than reality?  Perhaps.  Things are going well with that guy and I'm reminding myself that's what I wanted and not to run.

Very Scrubby

It's been raining a lot.  I've looked very scrubby walking around town.  I've noticed an increase in the number of men who invite me to coffee with their friends (I was standing outside Starbucks waiting for a friend) and start conversations ("Hey, I like your coat!" leading to a longer discussion on coats).  Perhaps looking scrubby is the key to getting approached during the day?  Perhaps we were all on to something late last year?

Finally Better

I'm finally better and went to several networking events this past week.  I was approached by many married men and no single men.  Why?  I don't know.

Weekend Trip

On another weekend trip, this time, Tahoe with two girl friends.  We will not talk about guys...at all.

That Was Nice

I was on Caltrain today.  This guy sitting across the aisle from me said, "You are incredibly beautiful and I just had to tell you that" as he was getting off the train.  That was nice.  No, I don't think he was hitting on me.  He blurted it and ran off, LOL

Did She Try To Kiss Me?

Did she try to kiss me?  I think one of my girl friends tried to kiss me tonight.  I thought she liked guys!  Perhaps she likes both?  Definitely a night for the adventure log.

Other Dates

New Leaf Guy is in Asia or Europe or somewhere.  As Victor Hugo said, "When a man is out of sight, it is not too long before he is out of mind."  We talked before he left and he's sent a couple of emails, but largely out of sight and out of mind.

I practice what I preach, I'm not "sorta with" him.  I don't get hung up on one guy unless there's some kind of DTR (define the relationship) talk, which would involve labels.  He's told me he is not dating anyone else, but that could always change, so I don't take it very seriously.  And, he hasn't asked me to stop dating other guys...

I've met a lot of guys organically, but not guys I'd like to date.  They are all spoken for and weren't shy about their relationship statuses.

I haven't been on any dates worth writing about.  Lots of the same.  No spark or guys who give me their resumes and ask me job interview questions.  On a positive note, fewer perverts!

Haiiii

I ran into a friend of a friend at a bar over the weekend.  We've met before and I've always found him to very very very good looking.  He wants to "get together" and mentioned this about five times.  We'll see if he follows through.  I don't think he will because the first time we met, he handed me his business card and expected me to pursue him.  I get the sense that there are many ladies after him, which is expected, and it also means he's not interested enough unless he actually tries to get together with me.

Even if I never see him again, it was fabulous to see his pretty face.

TechCrunch Crunchies

I went to the TechCrunch Crunchies award show a few weeks ago.  I can sum up the attendees as:
  1. TechCrunch and VentureBeat employees
  2. Big names in tech, some brought their bodyguards and dog - Marc Benioff, Travis Kalanick, Jim Goetz, Drew Houston, Elizabeth Holmes, et al
  3. People with startups - mostly guys
  4. Gals dressed like they were trying to find boyfriends or "working"
I saw three girls change in the bathroom and doing full hair and makeup.  Ladies, couple of things:
  1. The big names and very successful guys you might be trying to meet do not attend the 2,000+ person afterparty; they have their own, this year, it was sponsored by Yahoo
  2. Many of the very successful guys are already married

Cute And Married

A lot of my girlfriends in SF have been asking me about the guys at Disrupt.  It was 85%+ guys and yes most were focused on getting funding, making contacts, etc.  As one can guess, there were a lot of malnourished looking guys (skinny, lanky, short, etc) and some buff looking guys.  And there were some cute guys, but they were married.

What A Shame!!

Even though I was at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2014 to network, ended up meeting a cool guy on the last day (yesterday). What a shame, he lives in SoCal. He was cute, a tall drink of water (lol), smart, and knew how to flirt/hold a conversation (ie make light conversation while getting information vs interview style grilling). This might be the first guy I've been excited about since I moved here six years ago...and he doesn't live in SF.  He asked for my contact info several times and wants to keep in touch, we all know how that goes...

TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2014

Yup, I've been attending TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2014.  Yup, I've been dissed by another programmer trying to make conversation with me.  He said something along the lines of, "What do you mean you don't know how to program?!?!"  I'd like to know how to program, and on his end, I guess I would sum it up by saying, what an ignorant tool.  Once again, it's the non intentional rudeness thing, like this guy.

Day two today :/

And This Is Why You Can't Get A Girl

I went to a networking event and met a friend of a friend.  He asked me what I do for a living.  I told him.  His response, "So, you add no value; you're basically useless and just take up space."  Instead of arguing with him, defending myself, whatevering with him; I simply turned around and started talking to someone else.  He tried to get my attention for the next ten minutes.  I ignored him.

I know he wasn't trying to be a d*ck, but he was a d*ck (I've met a lot of these types of guys); kinda reminds me of Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory.  I did think, "And this is why you can't get a girl" about a hundred times even after I got home.

New York

East again, NY. Love New York summers (or summer in general)!  Will I be going on dates while I'm here?  Yes.  Do I have a couple lined up?  Yes.  Did I just move to New York?  No.  Am I still thinking about moving out here?  Yes.
