Self Confidence
I just read about an experiment where women with more self confidence are less willing to date men who are non professionals.
Confident is not the same as successful. So I don't see how the two relate. A very confident artist may better relate to an equally confident man who works with his hands (instead of in an office). Similarly, a very insecure but professionally accomplished woman is probably going to want someone at a similar professional level. I'd say it is way less about confidence and way more about compatibility of lifestyles.
True. I've found most men are become more confident with success. Women, some do, some don't. LIfestyles...maybe more tied to malleability? I have one friend who suddenly adopts whatever interests her man has (this goes from white water rafting to clubbing to marathons to reading to whatever)
No, when I say lifestyle, I mean more personal compatibility. For instance, my friend who is a teacher prefers to date men that are teachers, work in non-profits, or are more "upper" blue collar (her last BF had a well-paying construction management job). She was raised simply and prefers that life.
Financially, regardless of how confident you are, if you are accustomed to being able to take vacations or live in an expensive place, you likely want a partner who can afford those things too.
I agree with Sabrina. And my comment was coming from a place where a person with high confidence doesn't care what anyone else thinks and will date someone suited to their lifestyle, regardless of professional status.
I'm curious to know about this experiment. I'd think it would be the other way around.
ReplyDeleteHi TJ, really? You see the very accomplished, published, confident lady doctor dating the fast food restaurant manager?

Ah, I see, good point. Yes, I absolutely want a partner who can afford those things, LOL
