Whaat?

I went out for a drink with a guy earlier this year.  He was nice and I felt it as being more friend than potential boyfriend.  After not hearing from him for months, he emailed me this week saying he thought I was fun and wants to be friends.  Whaat?  Is this guy suddenly lonely because it's holiday season?  Does he really want to just be friends?  Is he trying to see if I'm interested in him?  Do I even give a sh&t?  No.

I am trying to keep my guy friend count low because 1) I have plenty of guy friends, 2) guy friends are c*ckblocks (let's say I'm at happy hour with one of them, I'm almost never approached by any new guys because I'm already there with a guy), and 3) in my experience, new guy friends never want to be just friends.

  2. My dating experiences are horrible, but I'm a little older than you. I put up with more shit, but I wonder why I do...I like your no nonsense attitude.

    1. Sorry yours are also not good. As I've gotten older, I tolerate much less, would rather be happy alone than miserable with someone else ;)

  3. Eurgh! Glad you got rid of him!

I find when they creep back and write 'let's be friends', it's more about 2 things: 1) essentially they are kinda interested, but not enough and 2) they want to seem like a 'nice guy' but they're not!

    1. So strange, first time I've ever experienced the "let's be friends" after a non breakup

  4. At least he followed up, even if it was ages later. Maybe he started seeing someone right after you met, and things ultimately didn't work out but he didn't want to be pushy and ask you on another date all this time later. So he's trying to see if you're interested by suggesting friends first.

I don't like having guy friends either, but guy acquaintances aren't bad to have.
