I Want To Cancel

I have a date tomorrow night.  It was scheduled a week and a half ago.  I want to cancel very bad.  I am doing my best not to cancel.  He's been texting me with what I consider irritating comments and questions since we scheduled the date.  For example:
  • What are you up to?
  • It's raining out, how dreary
  • What should I wear?
  • Are jeans okay?
  • How are you?
  • Still there?
  • Where are you?
  • Hi?
I've ignored these texts.  The only ones I've replied to were date logistics related; what time, where, what day. We haven't met in person yet, and now I really don't want to.  He seems bored or in constant need of attention.

  1. Asking because I am genuinely curious. Why do you even bother setting up dates because you are clearly not interested in anyone.

    1. 1) because he was persistent. And you are correct, I'm not very interested in him. He asked so many times that I just gave in. Maybe I will be surprised. Unlikely since he seems mentally unstable. I should cancel
      2) do you actually think his behavior is "normal" or "acceptable?" This is the kind of behavior should set off some red flags. It can be described as needy, insecure, intrusive, and possibly serial killer like

    2. You sound judgmental. That is unnecessary. You don't need to understand me or this blog. You also don't need to read it if you are going to pass judgment

  3. This guy doesn't sound that bad, he just sounds like he wants to make conversation and isn't very good over text, and maybe he's a little nerdy. Wooing women doesn't come naturally to all men.

My now-husband used to send me a "good night" text every night before I went to bed and I'd wake up to a "good morning" text. All BEFORE we met. I told him to knock it off. The rest is history. :)

    1. Before you met, when he did that, did it creep you out a little?

    2. Kind of, I felt like it was overbearing. But I was willing to give him a chance because I figured he was just trying to impress me - and failing, but he meant well. He still sucks at texting.

  4. I dread all the texting ahead of time. I already have a ton of texts to reply to, work, friends, etc, let alone reply to someone I haven't even met. A little back and forth over whatever dating app, exchange numbers, to set a day (not pen pal), and see if you like the person in person, and like their vibe. He could be perfert for her - but he' being pushy and maybe wasting both their times if in person they don;t vibe. I have to agree. Maybe after 30 you just want to cut out the bulllshit.

    1. I'm with you! The lots of texting ahead of time is unnecessary. Yes, text to set it up, and that's about it. Perhaps this is an age thing. Didn't even think of that

  5. Are jeans ok ? Seriously ? Who asks that ? Simply dress up when going for a date. Wear a suit without tie and you're always safe (unless the dresscode is clear).

    1. And this is from a guy! Thanks, Jurgen.

So yes, even men find this guy bizarre.

    2. It's not a bad thing actually. The more men like this out there, the easier for me. Wear suit, act normal, score.
