I talked about the dating cycle in 2013, but I do believe it still holds true. I noticed a lot of online dating activity starting around Thanksgiving and going into early/mid January. Late January/mid February things slow down a little.
I really don't want this to come off as arrogant, but I must reiterate, guys, if you are interested in a lady a "wink" "favorite," etc. is not enough. I've gotten more than 100 "likes," "winks," "favorite," "ratings," etc in the past 24 hours. I feel overwhelmed and it gives me anxiety, so I am unsubscribing from these emails. If a guy is waiting for me to wink back, oh well.
Yeah, it's pointless for a guy to do those things. I wish a site would come along and drop the pretense and just have women show their interested by winking or rating or whatever the hell they want to call it. Then it's a mans job to say hello.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they could even use that as a way to screen emails. A woman has to show some interest in you before you can even email her. She "winks at you, then you can send her a message. No more cold call emails or being overwhelmed by messages to the point where you might miss out on someone you might actually like.
Also, maybe give the guys a way to ask for your attention. Like a button that says "hey you're cute, check me out and see if you like me".
Hmmmmm........
Not a bad idea, J! Sometimes I give the "wink" guys (or OKC equivalent) guys a quick message, but about 75% never respond, despite "liking" me. And the 25% that do peter out after one exchange.
DeleteUltimately, I find the dates that "work", even at a short level, are when the guy wrote me first! Not that it stops me from trying. :)
J, that's a really good idea! No emailing a lady until she shows some kind of interest!
DeleteSabrina, I totally agree, the dates that work are from guys contacting me first. Okay, I never contact guys, but a lot of the time a guy will email me after I show up in his visitors list...that doesn't seem to work out ask well compared to a guy that found me on his own
I am so disgusted and done with dating I am considering quitting all together.
ReplyDeleteI'm taking a break and hoping things are nice and rosy when I am done with my break. Maybe a break would be good for you too?
DeleteSomeone once told me that men control relationships in that they have to have interest first and do the work to make it happen for a succesful relationship. Idk whether or not I agree with that, but I can see how it applies to a lot of situations.
ReplyDeleteHey Asha, I totally agree with it which is why I never approach guys online or in person
DeleteFor the record, I think this line of thinking is way outdated and is actually a disservice both genders.
Deletevalentines day is stupid.
ReplyDeleteYes!! Even if you are in a relationship, celebrate that relationship on your anniversary. Stop making everyone else feel bad. :D
DeleteI used to celebrate valentine's with an old co-worker who is also single. It was kind of an excuse to get together every year. This year I just don't care. It's just another day.
