Speak Of The Devil

Speak of the devil, that older guy just called to ask me out.  I agreed to dinner this weekend.  I don't want to get his hopes up because I don't really think he has a shot.  He's in his 50s (according to the Googling I just did, maybe late 50s? Oy).  And yes, for those of you who are interested, he does very very well.

  1. Haha so I just posted about older guys too... It's worth a shot, and there's a lot of pros to older guys. I hope you follow through, even if it's just to be able to tell us a good story!

    1. I'll go because I already agreed, but he is so so much older

  2. Woah! That is quite a difference. Go and have a fabulous time! I would bring age into the conversation, that's definitely a normal topic when getting to know someone. I would just enjoy getting to know him and ask him questions to find out if you guys have the same goals in mind.

    1. Lol, Asha...he's so so old. There's old, then there's close to dad's age old...ick

    2. Tell me about it. A former boss of mine contacted me last year about 6 months after I stopped working for him and confessed a huge crush. I was shocked. He is my dad's age!

  3. I feel like these men are kind of ridiculous, going after women young enough to be their daughters. Ick.

    1. I agree, I wonder what goes on in their heads (no, not that head)

  4. Why even go out with him? He's gross.

    1. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Some people complain that I write guys off too fast and when I don't, then people think I've lost my mind.

I was a little buzzed when I met him and had forgotten about him (especially what I think he looks like) until I hung up the phone with him (which was after I had already agreed to dinner). I try not cancel things I've already agreed to (this is in everything, work, dating, etc)

    2. There's a middle ground, A.G. You do write off men too fast, but then why agree to a date with someone you clearly are not going to marry and have babies with?

It's fair to keep the date since you made it, but why did you even answer the phone?

By the way this is not the same anonymous as who made the "gross" comment. But I agree. Sugar daddies disgust me on so many levels.

    3. I don't think it's fair to call him a sugar daddy at this point. In my opinion, being a sugar daddy involves money for the relationship. AG clearly doesn't need to date for money.

I also think it's pretty dense, not to mention broad generalization, to call someone gross just because they are atrracted to a younger person. They are both responsible adults, I don't see what's gross about that. People make these types of relationships work all the time, and they are not always sugar daddy/mama arrangements.

AG, I am looking forward to hearing how your date went! :-)

    4. Anon, his number wasn't in my phone. He was so direct, this might be my first SF alpha male! As for the married with babies thing, it's possible, but very highly unlikely.

Asha, thanks! I agree, I don't think it's gross when an older guy goes for a younger girl (think society believes this is the norm). I do think it's gross though if the guy if my dad's age, lol (and vomiting now)

Will write about the date tomorrow.... :-)
